The Right Start in Teaching Economics
Join the Hawai`i Council on Economic Education and the Foundation for
Teaching Economics at the New Otani Hotel for "The Right Start Institute in
Teaching Economics"
RSI is a four-day residential program that which incorporates content,
overviews, demonstration lectures, simulations and special topic
discussions. The program's goal is to help teachers to identify and learn
basic economic content and develop lesson plans for effectively teaching
economics.
COST
FREE!
The Foundation for Teaching Economics will cover all costs for lodging,
registration, materials, and most meals. A $100 expense honoraria will
be paid if lodging is not needed. (Round-trip transportation to and from
meeting site is the responsibility of the participant.)

OPTIONAL
2 Semester Hours of Graduate Credits in Economics from Florida Gulf
Coast University for $200. It is the sole responsibility of the
individual teacher to make sure the credit arrangement you pursue meets
the criteria set forth by your school, district, and the State of Hawai`i.
Note: Credits earned from this course will not qualify for reclassification
credit with the Hawaii State Department of Education. For question or
concerns regarding this matter, call the Teacher Reclassification Unit at

APPLICATION DEADLINE
Only 30 teachers will be accepted for the program. Completed applications
including $100 refundable deposit (Payable to FTE) must be received by the
Hawaii Council on Economic Education by September 1, 2010.
